Dong Zhi Celebration

Today is Dong Zhi... Erm, 1st day of the winter probably. For Face, it is a big event, the chinese new year for TeoChew. We are supposed to eat Tangyuan for tonight. Well, we decided to go and buy the tang yuen after our dinner as we were feeling very hungry. In Bali-bali, we ordered char koay teow, yam cake, chai kueh, laksa and wantan mee. Haha!
After the dinner, we went to George Town to buy the sweet Tangyuan. The stall is famous for this dessert. But the stall is closed!!! OMG!! We were dissapointed... Then we headed to other places for Tangyuan. Jelutong dessert stall named "Mat Dou Yao", which means they have everything, but they didn't sell Tangyuan too... #@*(&!#)$%.....
So we decided to buy 2 packet of red bean soup and get the frozen glutinous rice ball from Tesco. After we go round and round in the frozen food department....we found that the frozen balls... are all sold out...
As the replacement, we bought giant glutinous rice balls...Mochi...hahaha!!

Moral of the day : Don't buy Tangyuan at the last minute.........

  1. Wah, so creative, put mochi balls into red bean sweet soup as tang yuan. Taste the same or not?

  2. It was fun! Haha! The taste is quite similar, is just that the Mochi was filled with pandan cream. Just like durian pancake.
